My latest obsession: Star Wars

Okay, so I know that this isn’t fashion, but STAR WARS. How can you not talk about Star Wars? You guys, I know that I’m a tad bit late to the game, nonetheless, I’m dedicating a post to this topic.

I’m sitting on my bed at like 2 am I’m texting my friend:

“Bro, okay, I’m about to watch A New Hope. I’m so hyped.”

“Yessss, okay, so after that, you have to watch Episode V, VI, and then you go back to watch the prequels where it basically explains how Anakin became Darth Vader,” he said.

“Okay, why is this so confusing?”

“Just go with it.”

Two Hours Later

“DUDE THAT WAS AMAZING. I SWEAR I’M NAMING MY CHILD BEN,” I screamed through my texts.

“YES THANK GOD YOU LIKED IT OMG. MY FAVORITE EPISODE IS EPISODE III. THE CINEMATOGRAPHY IS SO COOL, AND THE FACT THAT THE FIGHT BETWEEN OBI-WAN AND ANAKIN IS REAL. LIKE NO CGI.”

And this is how I got into Star Wars. Those movies are a literal game-changer, but I don’t really want to watch Episodes VII, VIII, and IX. Disney produced it- Lucas wasn’t the director, and it’s made about the next generation. I feel like it strays away from the original storyline of Anakin becoming Darth Vader. I’m afraid that I won’t see the original six movies the same way as I do now. I mean, I’ll honestly probably watch them just to get the full Star Wars experience. I’m rewatching all of the episodes, and I’m really excited to see the stand-alone films. But basically, there’s more than one way of watching all the movies: one way is that you start at episode IV, V, VI and then I, II, III that explain the OG trilogy and then the sequels (this is how I watched it the first time). Or you could watch them all in order, which is one of the easier ways to watch it, but I’ve never done it. Of course, in between Episode III and Episode IV, people like to view the stand-alone films like “Rogue One” and “Solo” when watching it chronologically. And one last way that I’m going to explain is where you watch Episode IV, V, and hit pause when Darth Vader reveals himself as Luke’s father. Then, as a flashback, you watch the prequels, then Episode VI, and end with the sequels.

There’s definitely more ways to watch the movies, but these are the three ways that I know it. So, here’s an excellent website that explains numerous ways of viewing the saga: https://www.insider.com/best-ways-to-watch-star-wars-movies

I find Star Wars so fascinating because of how many ways you can watch it. You can watch it one way and then rewatch it another and get a completely different experience. Can you say this about any other sagas? I mean, not really.

It quite literally puts you in space, completely different planets and a whole galaxy, which I found genuinely impeccable. You find yourself completely lost in an entire universe.

In LIFE magazine, I read that George Lucas started with Episode IV instead of the beginning because he wanted to put the audience right in the middle of the action and then wanted to make the prequels to explain the OG trilogy, which is genius.

Thank you to all of the makers of Star Wars because I’ve never loved a saga more than this one. Not even Harry Potter. I mean, to be honest, I haven’t watched all of the Harry Potter films. But Star Wars just hits different.

And that’s my little rant on the best-movies-ever-made, Star Wars.
